Platteville Public Schools invited 11 firms to act as construction managers for the school district’s $16.6 million building project.

The interested companies have until July 24 to deliver a proposal to the school district offices.

The invited firms are Conlon Co. of Dubuque; Kraemer Brothers Construction of Plain; C.G. Schmidt, J.P. Cullen & Sons, Vogel Bros. and J.H. Findorff & Son of Madison, Miron Construction of Appleton; C.D. Smith of Fond du Lac; Market & Johnson of La Crosse; Scherrer Construction of Burlington; and Morris Wade Associates of Hinsdale, Ill.

An ad hoc committee of school district administrators and School Board members will whittle the 11 down to two or three firms that will be interviewed Aug. 4.

The School Board plans on choosing a construction manager at its Aug. 10 meeting.

Meanwhile, two meetings have been scheduled to allow PPS staff to have input on the design proposals for the work at the school district’s four schools.

The first meeting will be Thursday at 9 a.m. for Westview Elementary School, along with first-grade teachers at Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center and fourth-grade teachers at Platteville Middle School. First and fourth grades will be moving to Westview as part of the building project.

The other meting will be Aug. 11, in the morning for Neal Wilkins and PMS, and in the afternoon for Platteville High School.
