Darlington High School orientation planned for freshmen & new students

In the past, it has been helpful to meet with parents of students entering Darlington High School (DHS) for the first time.  This meeting provides parents with information that is important for students to make a smooth transition into a different building/level of education.

A parent meeting for parents of students new to DHS will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The agenda will include: student homeroom assignment, review of student schedules, home-school communication, career planning, question and answer and an optional tour of the building.

All new students worry about “being lost” the first few weeks of school.  Orientation helps eliminate some of their concerns.  Students will receive their 2015-16 schedule and will have the week that follows to get familiar with it. Locker assignments, a tour of the building, and a review of general school policies are part of the student orientation.

The new student orientation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m. in the high school auditorium.

Classes begin on Tuesday, Sept. 1.  It is important to get the 2015-16 school year off to a successful start.  Attendance at these orientation sessions are very helpful in achieving that goal.  Please mark your calendars with these dates so that you can get involved from the very start.
