Potosi High School will present the Broadway Musical “State Fair” Friday and Saturday  at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m..

Reserved seating tickets for the Potosi production of “State Fair” are available online through the Potosi school website. Tickets will also be available at the door for each performance. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s only musical written directly for the screen is now a stage musical. Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, “State Fair” travels with the Frake family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair. Mom and Pop have their hearts set on blue ribbons while their daughter and son find romance and heartbreak on the midway. Set to an Academy Award-winning score and augmented by other titles from the Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook, “State Fair” is the kind of warm-hearted family entertainment only Rodgers & Hammerstein could deliver.

Songs include “Our State Fair,” “It Might as Well Be Spring,” “More Than Just a Friend,” “It’s a Grand Night for Singing,” and “All I Owe Ioway.”

“State Fair” is presented through special arrangement with R&H Theatricals: www.rnh.com.

This will be the last musical production in the Potosi High School Gym. Early stages of remodeling have begun in preparation for the construction of a new performance auditorium as part of the renovation to the Potosi school. Potosi School is encouraging cast and crew of previous musicals performed in the Potosi Gym to join us as we bid farewell to the space that has enjoyed so many successful years as a performance venue.
