PHS Homecoming next week, with dance set for Oct. 19

The Platteville High School Homecoming will be held Oct. 14–19.

The theme for the 2013 Homecoming Week is ”Welcome to the Jungle.” During each day of Homecoming week, students will be dressing in different costumes competing to earn points for the most spirited class. The spirit days starting Monday are Animal/Safari Day, Camoflauge Day, PJ/Toga Day, Throwback Thursday, and Hillmen Pride Day.

Homecoming week will kick off with a bonfire in the PHS back parking lot Monday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m, Homecoming court will be announced.

A pep rally will be held in the afternoon Friday, Oct. 18, games and activities will take place to help each class earn spirit points. Members of the fall sports and activities will be introduced.

Following the pep rally will be the second annual PHS Homecoming Parade on Main Street starting at 1:30 p.m. The parade route begins at City Park and ends at Oak Street. All students and staff of the school district will be attending the parade. There will be parade entries from every school building. The high school will have entries from fall sports and school activities.

If members of the community would like to support the Homecoming Parade in some way, contact the high school. 342-4020.

Court will be introduced at the home football game on Friday, Oct. 18 during halftime.

Homecoming festivities will conclude with the Homecoming Dance in the PHS North Gym Saturday, Oct. 19 from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Cost of admission at the door will be $8. Tickets may be purchased the week of the dance for $7. Students are asked to park in the back parking lot. The front doors will not be open.

Coronation for king and queen will take place at 9 p.m. Community members attending coronation are asked to please park in the front parking lot. Admission is free, but a $1 donation for the Platteville Food Pantry would be appreciated.
