Western Technical College offers welding skills institute in Mauston

Western Technical College is offering a Welding Skills Institute as part of the manufacturing career pathway options available at the college.

The institute is a 14-week intensive program, which provides basic skills in Gas Tungsten Arc welding, blueprint reading, and math. Four credits are transferable into the welding technical diploma program.

The institute will be held at the Mauston High School Welding Lab, 800 Grayside Ave. The course will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 3:30-8 p.m., beginning on Mar. 1 and ending on Jun. 7. The deadline to register for this course is Tuesday, Feb. 23. The cost is $790.47, which does not include steel-toed shoes.

A Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) test is required prior to registration. For questions or to register, call 608-785-9232.

An information session for the offering will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 4-6 p.m. at Mauston High School. TABE testing will be available during the information session. Please RSVP for the session by calling Kelsey at 608-785-9291.
