Avalon Paulson chosen as Gays Mills Apple Ambassador
avie

Avalon Paulson will serve as the Apple Ambassador in the Apple Festival Parade on Sunday, September 28 at 1:30 p.m. in Gays Mills.

The following letter was received earlier this month by the Gays Mills PACE Club nominating this year’s Apple Ambassador for the position.

I would like to nominate Avalon (Avie) Paulson as Apple Ambassador. Avie is a very loving mother of nine children, 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, with three more great-grandchildren on the way.

Some of the jobs that Avie has had are: picking apples at Fleming Orchard, wrapping meat at Kickapoo Locker, working at Advance Transformer, serving meals for the elderly meal site (she was serving people younger than she was).

Avie volunteers at the Gays Mills Food Pantry.

Avie has also volunteered at the United Methodist Church, holding many positions. She is most proud of her apple pies (and if she is not her family is!), which the Church has served during Apple Fest. Avie has made and served apple pies for over 40 years. Some of her family would come and help her during Apple Fest.

Avie is a very caring and loving person. She took care of her daughter when she had cancer. Avie would drive people to doctor appointments. She would also go and check on people that were ill at their homes. Avie goes to Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home every week to volunteer.

I hope that you choose Avie for Apple Ambassador. She does not like to be the center of attention, but would make a great Apple Ambassador.

Love,

Her family
