Johnson Public Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. McCoy Public Library
SHULLSBURG – For the month of August we have a BINGO reading challenge for children through 5th grade. Stop at the desk for your BINGO card and start playing today!
Darlington Food Pantry
DARLINGTON – The monthly Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will be on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Town Bank in Darlington Wisconsin from 4-5 p.m. The pantry is held in the lower level of Town Bank. There are no income limits for people wishing to participate. Volunteers are needed from 3-6 p.m. to help unload the truck and distribute food, then clean up. Volunteers may help with any or the entire pantry. To volunteer call Carrie at 608-293-0791 or simply come to the pantry and register as a volunteer the day of the pantry.
Briggs and Reed Tractor Drive
ORANGEVILLE – Don’t forget about our 12th Annual “BRIGGS AND REED TRACTOR DRIVE” on Sat., Sept. 2, 2017.  We start at Jim Briggs’ farm, 3699 W. Winslow Rd., Orangeville, Ill., and go 20 miles to Orval Reed’s farm at 7942 Neesseman Rd., South Wayne.  There we have a delicious picnic, tour the barn with lots of farm antiques in it.  After lunch we head back to Briggs’ place.  Please bring a dish to pass for the picnic.  You are welcome to come even if you don’t drive a tractor.  Everyone always has a fun and informative day.  COME JOIN US!!!  Phone: Jim at 815-789-4570 or 815-291-4571 or Orval at 608-677-2301 or 608-558-5082.
Gratiot Labor Day
GRATIOT – The 54th annual Gratiot Labor Day celebration will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Sept. 2, 3, and 4. On Saturday, a men’s softball and euchre tournament starts at noon with bean bags at 4 p.m. Sunday at 8 a.m. the 2k run/walk and pancake breakfast kicks off the day and kid’s tractor pull and kid’s water fight start at 11 a.m. and noon. Monday there will be kid’s games all day. Chicken BBQ begins at 11 a.m. with the parade at 1 and chicken chase along with music by Long Hard Ride DJ at 3:30 p.m. The raffle drawing ends the festivities at 5 p.m.
Darlington American Legion
DARLINGTON – Darlington American Legion Post Members along with the Legion Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion will hold their monthly meeting at the Legion Post on Wednesday, Sept. 6.  The meetings will start at 7 p.m.  If you are interested in joining the Legion Family, please come to a meeting to see what we are up to.  Commander Dave will talk about the National Convention where The American Legion elected Denise Rohan as their first woman National Commander.  American Legion National Commander Denise is from Verona, Wis.  If you have not paid your Membership dues this would be a good time to get up to date on your Membership.  Don’t forget to visit our Webpage at:  www.darlingtonlegion.org
Manor Auxiliary Annual Cookout
DARLINGTON – The Lafayette Manor Auxiliary will once again be hosting their ANNUAL COOKOUT/FUNDRAISER on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 serving brats, burgers, and goodies from 4-7 p.m.  The cookout will be held at the Lafayette County Fairgrounds in the FLORAL HALL. The fun-filled evening will consist of a cookout, live local music, and a gift basket raffle. Confirmation Sunday
DARLINGTON – Immanuel United Church of Christ will be celebrating Confirmation Sunday and Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. services. There will be a special service during church to recognize the confirmants.  After church we’ll be having a fun day with games to kick off the start of Sunday School followed by a potluck dinner.  All are welcome.  Join us for this celebration!
Lafayette County Sew and Sews
DARLINGTON – The meeting of the Lafayette County Sew and Sews is always the 2nd Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Town Bank in Darlington. The next meeting will be Sept. 11. Everyone is welcome.
