Weston to honor John Klangs memory
Klang john
John Klang

September 29, 2016, will mark the 10-year anniversary of the tragic death of John Klang, former principal at Weston School District.

On September 29, 2006, Klang was tragically shot and later died as a result of the gunshot wounds. Klang was admired and respected by students, staff and members of the Weston community. He served on the Weston school board for over 20 years prior to becoming the athletic director, and eventually becoming the principal. At the time of his death he was in the process of becoming the administrator for the district under the mentorship of Terry Milfred.

In honor of the dedication and commitment John demonstrated to the Weston School District, several memorial activities have been planned for September 29, 2016. All activities will take place outside the school at the John Klang Memorial. In case of inclement weather, the activities will be moved indoors. At 7:30 a.m. staff members will gather and take a moment to reflect and share thoughts and memories. Middle and high school students will have a discussion about the events that occurred 10 years ago during their morning advisory time. At 8:00 a.m. they will proceed outside to the memorial for a moment of silence and will be given time to reflect.

Community members are invited to gather at the memorial at 4:00 p.m. A short memorial service will be held in John’s honor and everyone is invited to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Louis at 608-986-2151 Ext. 120 or e-mail louis@weston.k12.wi.us .
