Two candidate forums for the Feb. 17 primary election will be held in the next week.

The Platteville Journal and the Platteville Main Street Program will sponsor a forum with the three candidates for the Common Council at-large seat — Darrel Browning, Angie Donovan and Tom Nall — in the Municipal Building council chambers, 75 N. Bonson St., Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The top two vote-getters Feb. 17 will advance to the spring election April 7 in the race to replace retiring at-large Ald. Dick Bonin.

Steve Prestegard, editor of The Platteville Journal, will moderate the candidate forum. Questions for the candidates can be emailed to journaleditor@centurytel.net by Thursday at 9 a.m.

The candidate forum will be shown live on Centurylink channel 36, and can be viewed on the city’s YouTube channel, PlattevilleWISC, before the primary election.

A forum for the eight candidates for the Platteville School Board will be held at South West Education Association, 960 Washington St., Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Incumbents Eric Fatzinger and Steve Obershaw and challengers Jamie Brogley, Brian Brown, Jeremy Johnson, Colleen McCabe, Curt Timlin and Matt Zielinski are running for three board seats. The top six vote-getters Feb. 17 will advance to the spring election April 7. Incumbent Monie Konecny is not running for reelection.
