Home-based day care no longer needs zoning permit

PLATTEVILLE — Home-based day care facilities are now legal in the City of Platteville without a conditional use permit.

The Common Council Aug. 28 changed its zoning ordinance to match state law covering zoning of day care facilities.

City ordinances had required conditional use permits for home-based day care facilities with up to nine children in residential-zoned districts. State law, however, requires that home-based day care facilities be allowed wherever a single-family home is permitted by zoning.
