The Fennimore Fire Department was assisted in fighting this fire by departments from Boscobel, Blue River, Montfort, Lancaster, and Wauzeka, all of which had to deal with treacherous road conditions as the fire took place a day after a winter storm had left be-hind several inches of heavy snow that turned into ice after several vehicles passed over the road.

BOSCOBEL - John Hackett credits the family dog Roscoe for alerting his son Hunter that something was wrong about 12:30 p.m. last Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the home they share at 14738 Ideal Road between Boscobel and Fennimore. Hunter was able to scoop up his young daughter Everlie and get out before the entire house was engulfed in flames. John arrived home about the same time as Fennimore firefighters and took the top photo. “It went so fast nothing was saved,” said John, who has been receiving donated clothing and other items from friends and strangers alike. “We are a long ways from the end of our journey in this ordeal but as of right now we are pretty well off with clothing. I’m sure we are missing some things we need, but until I can go through what we have please donate it forward to others in need.” The Fennimore Fire Department was assisted by departments from Boscobel, Blue River, Montfort, Lancaster, and Wauzeka, all of which had to deal with treacherous road conditions as the fire took place a day after a winter storm had left behind several inches of heavy snow that turned into ice after several vehicles passed over the road. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time, although John said it could have been electrical. He is working with his insurance company and plans to rebuild.
