Man dies in carbicycle crash on Business 151

This truck driven by Tyler P. Sullivan of Platteville hit a bicycle ridden by James Spencer Thomas, 22, Platteville, at East Business 151 and Phillips Road Sunday around 10:50 p.m.

A 22-year-old Platteville man died when his bicycle was hit by a pickup truck Sunday night.

James Spencer Thomas was pronounced dead at Southwest Health in Platteville after the crash at East Business 151 and Phillips Road around 10:50 p.m.

According to Platteville police, Tyler P. Sullivan of Platteville was driving west on Business 151 when his pickup truck struck Thomas’ bicycle.

Platteville police officers began lifesaving measures until Platteville EMS arrived to take Thomas to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

East Business 151 was closed after the crash until around 5:15 a.m., then was briefly closed for further investigation Monday afternoon. 

The Platteville Fire Department, UW–Platteville police and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene.

A decision on charges is pending the completion of the investigation, according to police.
