BEETOWN — Two men were arrested after a third man received severe injuries in a fight in a Beetown bar Saturday night.

Timothy Riley, 38, Lancaster, was arrested on tentative charges of felony battery, felony mayhem, disorderly conduct and two counts of felony bail jumping.

Jeremy Kastner, 39, Platteville, was arrested on tentative charges of felony battery, felony mayhem and disorderly conduct.

The fight occurred at Yesterdaze Tavern around 10:50 p.m., according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Joseph Koelker, 28, Cassville, was taken by Cassville EMS to Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster and then taken to UW Hospital in Madison by Med Flight helicopter for severe head trauma. Koelker was hit in the head with a shovel, and punched and kicked several times, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The other two people involved in the fight left the bar in a vehicle, which was located Sunday around 12:20 p.m. About an hour later, deputies arrested Riley. Kastner was arrested at his residence in Platteville for two warrants on charges of possession of prescription medication without a prescription and bail jumping Sunday around 8:40 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said.

Platteville and UW–Platteville police assisted the Sheriff’s Office.

Riley faces an additional charge of manufacturing or delivery of a prescription drug as a repeater, for which he was charged last October, according to court records. Trial on that charge is scheduled for Oct. 20 and Oct. 27, with a status conference Oct. 7.
