Platteville Public Schools are closed today due to what PPS officials call "a situation that endangers student safety."

Eyewitnesses report a substantial police presence in the area of Mound View Park, east of Platteville High School and north of Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center.

Platteville schools were first placed on a two-hour delay around 6:30 a.m. before the announcement of schools closing around 7:15 a.m.
