Two arrested on Platteville drug charges

Two Platteville men were arrested on drug charges after two search warrants were executed in Platteville Monday.

Matthew James Bonner, 21, and Jason Robert Shepherd, 18, were arrested after the Richland–Iowa–Grant Drug Task Force and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service executed search warrants at 360 S. Hickory St. and 317 N. Fourth St., according to a Drug Task Force news release.

The searches recovered about five pounds of suspected marijuana, 16 grams of crack cocaine, an unspecified amount of suspected LSD, 38 oxycodone hydrochloride pills, and drug paraphernalia, along with about $12,000 in cash, the news release said.

Bonner and is being referred to the Grant County District Attorney's office for possible charges including possession with intent to deliver marijuana, cocaine, LSD and Schedule II narcotics, possession with intent to deliver drugs within 1,000 feet of a park, and maintaining a drug trafficking place. Shepherd faces possible charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests may be forthcoming, the news release said.
