GIRLS BASKETBALL: River Ridge (3–0, 0–0) at Benton (3–0, 0–0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

    The Six Rivers West, Southwest Wisconsin Conference and the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League all open conference play for girls’ basketball this Friday night, but the premier game in the area is River Ridge at Benton. They two schools shared the Six Rivers West volleyball title in the fall and are the two favorites to challenge defending SRW girls’ basketball champion Shullsburg for this year’s league title.

     Sophomore Skylar White is averaging over 16.5 points per game to lead the Timberwolves to a 2–0 start. Junior guard Maggie Dougherty is averaging 19 points, and senior forward Emma Lawrence is averaging 18 points and 13 rebounds per game for the 3–0 Zephyrs.
