Huntley, Johnson lead Lady Tigers in routing Eagles
Starting forwards combine for 39 points

HILLSBORO — Senior Morgan Huntley scored a game-high 20 points and sophomore Sydney Johnson added 19 points in Hillsboro’s 62–40 blowout victory over Cashton last Friday night.

The Tigers’ starting forwards combined to make 14 of 24 shots from the field in the 22-point conference win.

Huntley made 7 of 14 from the floor, 6 of 9 from the free throw line and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds as the Tigers improved to 13–4 overall and 7–3 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.

Johnson made 7 of 10 from the floor, including 2 of 3 from three-point land, and 3 of 6 from the free throw line, to record her eighth double-digit scoring game in the past nine outings. She also played great defense with four steals and two blocks.
Hillsboro led 30–19 at the half and never trailed the rest of the game.

Senior guard Destiny Shore added nine points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals for the winners.

Fellow senior Brittany Borchardt chipped in four points, and Mackenzie Sullivan, April Thornsen, Courtney Fanta, Alexis Mathis and Danyelle Minor each scored a basket in the victory.

Senior Jamie Schmitz score a team-high 17 points to lead the Eagles, who fell to 9–7 overall and 6–4 in the SBC.

Hillsboro’s conference showdown at second-place Brookwood (14–3, 8–2 SBC) was snowed out last Tuesday and will be made up Friday.

But first, the Tigers will host first-place Bangor (17–1, 10–1) Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Hillsboro will also travel to Necedah (10–8, 4–6) next Tuesday, Feb. 16.
