BANGOR — Senior Sami Levy slammed a season-high 22 kills, and sophomore Brittany Borchardt added nine kills and 20 digs to lead Hillsboro to a sweep of Bangor last Tuesday night.

The Tigers defeated the host Cardinals 25–14, 25–13, 25–19 to improved to 13–7 overall and 6–1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.

“We played a solid match start to finish,” said Hillsboro head coach Mark Sullivan. “I was pleased with the girls effort as we had to use a different line-up due to injury to one of our middle blockers, Tasha Mitchell.”

Mitchell sprained her ankle in a 3–1 loss at Wonewoc–Center on Thursday, Sept. 19.

“Everyone stepped up well to the challenge,” added Sullivan. “We got a great night for Sami Levy with 21 kills.  Brittany Borchardt in her first action as front row player notched nine kills.

“We used the rest of the week to recover and be ready for a big week with 3 conference matches and the Reedsburg Tournament.”

Hillsboro traveled to Necedah on Tuesday and will now face both Royall and Wonewoc–Center at tonight’s Royall Quadrangular. The Tigers will then participate in the Reedsburg Tournament on Saturday.
