North Crawford-Seneca wrestler Zach Stluka tries to tip Hillsboro's Sebastion Miller for nearfall points at the Lee Griffin Invite.

North Crawford-Seneca wrestlers Tyler Finnell, Jared Grimsled, and Noah Brown all took second place at the Lee Griffin Invitational at Kickapoo High School this past weekend, Jan. 4-6.

Tyler Finnell wrestled and beat Tristan Meyer of Onalaska Luther by a score of 6-0, which advanced him to the finals, where he met up with Prairie du Chien’s Taylor Elliot. Elliot won the Bi-State Classic at 106 lbs. last weekend. Finnell was pinned in the finals by Elliot despite going out and giving Elliot a tough match.

Jared Grimsled pinned Prairie du Chien’s Brenden Fleschner and Brookwood’s Derek Osmond to advance to the finals, where he faced Pittsville’s James Lassa.  Grimsled wrestled a solid match, but was down in points and had to attempt a throw at the end of the match to try to win. He missed the throw and ended up getting pinned.

Noah Brown wrestled and pinned Prairie du Chien’s Brogan Riter and Hillsboro’s Dylan Thew, but lost to Desoto’s Cole Johnson.  Noah Brown continues to improve his throwing ability, throwing both Riter and Thew.

Zach Stluka also had a very good tournament, beating Sebastion Miller and Tyler Seeley (both from Hillsboro) before losing to Grant Parker of Onalaska.  Stluka was wrestling a solid match against Kaleb Meyer of Pittsville and was leading the match 10-5 before suffering a knee injury and getting pinned at the end of the match.

Other North Crawford-Seneca wrestlers included Kaleb Davenport, 1-2; Myca Reitzloff, 1-3; and Corey Spencer, Vitor Araujo, Chris Reynolds, and Tullan Baird, all 0-2

The next event is the Sparta Invitational at the Sparta High School on Saturday, Jan. 19.
