Benton/Scales Mound falls to Highland, 0-20

HIGHLAND - Junior fullback Franki Carlborg ran for 114 yards on 18 carries for the Zephyrs, but that literally was all the offense Benton-Scales Mound could muster against host Highland last Friday night in a 20-0 final.

Coach Al Alexander's squad finished the night with 114 yards of total offense, rushing for 116 yards on 36 attempts, while sophomore quarterback Stephen Korte completed 2-of-7 passing attempts for a negative four yards and one interception.

The loss dropped Benton-Scales Mound to 1-2 in the Six Rivers conference, and 1-2 overall heading into Friday night's home game against visiting Cassville (0-3, 0-3). Highland improved to 3-0 on the season and along with Potosi (2-0, 3-0) are the only two unbeaten teams in the league.

Last Friday night, the Zephyrs lost two fumbles and threw one interception, while committing just two penalties for a total of 10 yards.

The Cardinals finished the night with 240 yards rushing on 47 attempts, and a did not complete either of their two pass attempts.

Highland running back Tyler Kleist rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, while quarterback Blake Bodenstein also found the end zone from two yards out in the third quarter.
