CASSVILLE – Led by a second-half surge from seniors Ty Dressler and Nick Edge, the Potosi Chieftains escaped last Tuesday night’s Six Rivers West boys basketball contest with a 52-44 victory over host Cassville.
It was coach Jacob Bernetzke’s Comets who held a halftime lead of 22-21, getting eight points from junior Cameron Schmitz and six from senior Christian Fure, while Robby Roe and Sam Ihm each chipped in four.
Coach Mike Uppena’s Chieftains then outscored the Comets, 31-22, in the second half, led by Dressler who scored 15 points in the final 18 minutes, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line down the stretch.
Dressler finished with a game-high 17 points, going 5-of-8 from the field, including 1-of-3 from downtown.
