Candidate filing deadline today
City, village, town, school board seats on April 2 ballot
1-2 DISTRICT

The deadline for candidates to file for April 2 city council, village board and school board elections is today at 5 p.m.

The Platteville Common Council seats of District 1 Ald. Mike Dalecki and at-large Ald. Steve Becker are up for election for three-year terms.

Dalecki, the Common Council president, has returned papers for his seat, while Barbara Stockhausen, 935 Siemers St., has taken out papers for the District 1 seat.

Stockhausen has also taken out papers for Becker’s at-large seat, but Stockhausen had not returned the papers as of Monday. Becker returned papers for his at-large seat, as has Michael Denn, 1270 Stans Court.

The three incumbents on the Platteville School Board — president Brian Miesen and school board members Nancy Bongers and Abulkhair Masoom — were the only candidates  who had taken out papers as of Friday for three-year terms.

Two board seats are up for the Belmont School Board, currently held by Shawn Dailey and Jared Reuter. The terms are for three years. The filing deadline is Jan. 7.

Town board positions will also be on the ballot after canvasses are scheduled to determine candidates.

The Platteville Journal will update all races on the April 2 ballot next week.
