A mule estimated at almost one ton in weight was killed when it was hit by this truck owned by Wayne and Jackie Dieter and driven by Larry J. Bigelow, 37, Cuba City, east on Mitchell Hollow Road in the Town of Belmont Sunday around 5:30 a.m. Bigelow reported that about six mules, owned by a nearby Amish farmer, came into the road. Minor injuries were reported, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. The truck sustained severe damage; the truck hit the mule in the front and the mule ended up in the box. Southwest Health EMS and Platteville firefighters assisted at the scene.
